Cedric Ryckaert
Cedric Ryckaert is a Belgian teacher in primary school Sint-Paulus in Kortrijk, Belgium. His focus is on sustainable development themes, outdoor learning and playful learning. In recent years he has worked with the school team on the redesign of the school’s playground. The playground evolved from a concrete plain into the Klimaatspeelplaats, a stimulating climate-adaptive play and learning landscape. The project won the New European Bauhaus award as education champions in 2023. T4 Education named Sint-Paulus in the Top 3 in the World´s Best School Prizes 2024 in the category Environmental Action for its action for the climate and strong school culture.
He is also co-founder of BLES (www.blesland.be). This is an expert network of landscape designers, specialists in education and play that transforms school grounds into powerful play and learning environments.
They are developing school grounds all over Flanders. They work together with the Artevelde university of applied sciences (Ghent) and Learning through Landscapes (UK). BLES is a member of ISGA and the Learning planet alliance.
