When children lack opportunities to play, they also miss critical chances to explore,
imagine, collaborate, negotiate, and make sense of the world – to learn. How do
we, as educators, designers, and emerging professionals, work together to create
spaces that honour children’s right to play and learn meaningfully? Join us for a
conversation on co-designing play and learning spaces with children, teachers,
and the community as equal partners in the design process.
This session is intended to be a brief but meaningful conversation to spark deeper
discussions on how we shape learning and play environments in our schools. It
brings together educators, designers, students, and community members for an
introductory exploration of co-design—how children, teachers, and local
communities can participate as equal contributors in imagining improved school Spaces.
This is a light, entry-point dialogue that introduces key themes such as child-
centred design, play-based learning, and collaborative approaches to school
improvement. Participants will hear sharings from practitioners and walk through
simple case examples of how small, community-driven ideas have transformed
learning corners, play zones, and classrooms.
As one of the first Learn2Reka sessions by MYLES, the aim is to open up a space
for curiosity for those interested in learning spaces, educational architecture, or
community-led school transformation. It serves as a starting point—something
small that can ignite further conversations, partnerships, and deeper engagements
in the future. Participants can expect to leave with insights and inspiration to
explore co-design more intentionally in their own contexts.
