Wellington College International, Pune is the first flagship campus of Wellington College in India, designed to support contemporary K–12 education through flexible, student-centered learning environments. Located on a 9.3-acre site in Pune, the campus accommodates 1,000 students within a 375,000 sq. ft. built-up area and reflects a thoughtful balance between global educational values and local context.

The campus is organized around the concept of a learning village, where learning clusters form the fundamental spatial units. These clusters comprise flexible, multi-zoned environments that support a range of pedagogical approaches—from collaborative group work and project-based learning to focused individual study. Operable partitions, transparent connections, and adaptable furniture enable spaces to evolve in response to changing teaching and learning needs.

Interior design by Education Design International translates Wellington College’s institutional ethos into warm, welcoming, and human-scaled environments. Informal learning zones, stepped seating, reading nooks, and internal staircases function as social and collaborative spaces, encouraging interaction beyond the classroom. A carefully calibrated material palette—anchored by natural wood, brick, and neutral finishes—creates a timeless and comfortable learning atmosphere.

Generous ceiling heights enhance openness in shared areas, while more intimate, scaled spaces address the developmental needs of younger learners.

Shaded outdoor extensions and biophilic elements blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor learning, supporting wellbeing and environmental connection.

Drawing inspiration from the architectural heritage of Wellington College through elements such as arched forms and refined detailing, the design reinterprets tradition within a contemporary framework. The campus demonstrates how architecture and pedagogy can work together to create a cohesive, adaptable learning environment that supports academic rigor, holistic development, and community engagement.
